The shift to renewable energy is accelerating across Queensland, driven by government incentives and growing consumer awareness.
But recent reporting from 7NEWS Brisbane highlights an important reality the industry cannot ignore.
An audit by the Clean Energy Regulator found that a significant number of solar battery systems are being installed below standard, with some requiring immediate shutdown or rectification.
Out of 278 systems inspected:
• 66 were adequate
• 198 were substandard
• 3 were deemed unsafe
This isn’t an issue with technology, but the installation itself.
As demand surges, the pressure to deliver quickly is leading some providers to cut corners, particularly around installation quality, labelling, and electrical compliance. The result? Compromised safety, reduced performance, and long-term risk for customers.
For homeowners and businesses, the takeaway is simple:
-Get multiple quotes
-Verify accreditation
-Choose experience over price
For the industry, the responsibility is even clearer. Growth must be matched with discipline, standards, and accountability.
The transition to clean energy is too important to get wrong.
