The most unasked questions when looking into solar

Australia now has the highest electricity rates in the world for both residential and commercial properties.

As a result, solar systems have become very popular. A lot of questions relating to solar
products and installation are asked during the process of finding a suitable solar power system. Questions like, “What is the best product?”,  “How much does it cost?” or, “How long is the warranty period?” are thrown around.

But, frankly, all these questions together are used by our problematic Australian Solar Industry as a diversion. A more critical question to ask (an extremely important question), is “How reliable is the after-care service?”.  This is the question that the solar panel industry does not want you to consider, or ask.

Do you believe that a luxury brand car will run for 5+ years without any mechanical issues?

Do you believe that reputable solar product brands will be trouble free for the next 5+ years?

The answer to the above 2 questions is the same: No! Even the best solar products will eventually break down- and most solar manufacturers don’t deal directly with customers.

Therefore, it is crucial to make sure that the solar installation company you choose will continue running for many years to come. You want them to be there for you when your system needs service. Unfortunately, a lot of companies in the industry promise to service you and assist you, only to close down.  According to the data presented by LG Energy, in 2018 alone there has been a great rise in the number of solar companies closing down (roughly 263) due to their inability to keep up with solar system troubleshooting.

And, to make matter’s worse, some companies purposely close down and reopen under a different name to avoid warranty services. Luckily, these numbers have only increased in 2019.

In NSW, only a handful of professional solar companies have survived.

So, make sure you add these REAL questions to your list: How much more will the unit cost you to fix if your original solar company is no longer around? How about if the product manufacturer is no longer around? Will they commit to servicing you? What are the after-sale procedures (and what are some real examples)?

These are all very important questions to ask before deciding to proceed.

Troubleshooting solar products requires experience and expertise in the field. So, that brings us back to the main, crucial question: How confident are you with their after-sales service?

In order for a solar company to thoroughly and effectively help you with solar
troubleshooting, they must have the required knowledge and expertise. Do they have the
experience? How do they operate? How long have they been doing this? Do they have a
physical office you can visit?

Even in the early stages of quotation and discussion, observe their punctuality, their response time, professionalism, knowledge, and manner of service. This way, you can see beforehand how they handle their customers.

But that alone isn’t enough! Never forget to research the company’s history –  that can tell you a lot about how the company operates and how well they can take care of you in the long run.

Aussie Hybrid Solar has been running since 2009 and will continue running for many more years to come. We take pride in our aftersales service and we’re happy to answer all your important questions, even the tricky ones!
